Machine Construction Institute holds a position of a leading and research methodological center that trains highly qualified specialists and scientists in the following fields:
- dynamics and durability of machines, construction, study and usage of robot systems and sets;
- development of mobile techniques, as well as testing and certification of assemblies and parts of transport means;
- building, research, exploitation of lifting, construction, road-building, meliorative machines and equipment;
- computer-aided design equipment for oil products processing and distribution;
- organization of transportation, maintenance and repair of automobiles, managing of motive power technical state within the conditions of automobile operating company.
The Institute provides trainings for holders of Bachelor, Specialist and Master Degrees in 6 contemporary occupations. Today Machine Construction Institute (MCI) comprises 5 departments, namely: Dynamics, Durability of Machines and Resistance of Materials (DDM and RM, Department Deputy, Director of MCI, Prof. A.F. Dashchenko), Higher Mathematics nr 2 (HM nr 2 Prof. in charge A.V. Usov), Theoretical Engineer and Engineering Science (TE and E, Prof. in charge B.V. Motulko) Automobile Transport (AT, private Prof. in charge V.G. Maksimov), O&G and Chemical Machine Construction (OGCMC Prof. in charge A.L. Stanovskyi).
Alexander F. Dashchenko, D.Sc. in engineering, Professor, Honored Science and Engineering worker of Ukraine, Prize Winner of Ukraine State Prize in the realm of science, is in charge of the faculty and research team of the Institute. For the time being 10 Doctors and 36 PhD are employed at MCI. Scientific achievements of Machine Construction Institute carry inference that a Research School in Mechanical Engineering sector has been formed at Odessa National Polytechnic University. Its members under the head of the Honored Science and Engineering worker of Ukraine A.F. Dashchenko published a cyclus of monographs and study guides on fracture mechanics, dynamics and durability of machines, construction mechanics. Professors A.F. Dashchenko and A.V. Usov together with the leading specialists of “Odeskabel OJSC” in 2001 were awarded a Ukraine State Prize in the science and engineering realms for the period of works’ cyclus on the development and creation of materials and supply means of information on the basis of fiber optics.
In 2004 it was established Computational Mechanics Lab aimed at carrying – out researches in the scopes of engineering structure estimations together with the deployment of modern processing technologies in MCI at the Department of Dynamics, Durability of Machines and Resistance of Materials. “Auto diagnostics” Production and Training center in cooperation with the top worldwide companies “BOSCH” and domestic producers “VINNS” (diagnostic complex “Dolphin – 1M ”), and Educational, Research and Testing Center “Nadezhnost” of ONPU were organized in 2005 at the Department of Automobile Transport in order to employ researches and provide research services within the development of engineering diagnostic methods, testing and removal of transport mean reluctances and their separate units with the deployment of latest informational technologies.
